Parma cut ties with coach Pecchia after poor Serie A spell

Parma have cut ties with coach Fabio Pecchia, the Serie A team announced on Monday, after a fourth straight loss kept the newly promoted side in the drop zone.

Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at home to AS Roma stretched Parma’s winless streak to seven matches, which has seen the team fall to 18th in the table, having secured just four victories in their 25 league fixtures.

Pecchia took over in 2022 with Parma in Serie B, and in his debut season, the team fell short in the promotion playoffs before clinching the second-division title last year to earn automatic entry into the Italian top league.

In October, Parma extended Pecchia’s deal until 2027, but the squad’s slide into the bottom three has led to an early conclusion to his tenure at the club. Parma welcome Bologna on Sunday.
