Former Portugal and Manchester United attacker Nani Announced his retirement on Sunday at the age of 38.
Nani arrived at United in 2007 and proceeded to make 230 appearances for the squad, netting 41 goals. He secured the Champions League in his debut campaign and clinched four Premier League trophies and two League Cups across eight seasons.
“The moment has come to bid farewell; I have chosen to conclude my journey as a professional athlete,” Nani shared on social platforms.
“It’s been a remarkable journey, and I want to express gratitude to every individual who has guided and supported me through the peaks and valleys during a career spanning over two decades, providing countless cherished memories. Time to embark on a new chapter and concentrate on fresh ambitions and aspirations. Until next time!”
Nani, who has been competing in the Portuguese premier division this season for his hometown team Estrela Amadora, appeared in his final match against his former side Sporting last month.
He also featured for Valencia, Lazio, Orlando City, Venezia, Melbourne Victory, and Adana Demirspor.
Nani achieved 24 goals in 112 international matches for Portugal, lifting the European Championship in 2016.
