Luke Shaw shares heartfelt statement after enduring another injury setback before Arsenal vs Man Utd

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is sidelined and will not feature in Ruben Amorim’s travelling roster for the Red Devils’ crucial Premier League showdown against Arsenal on Wednesday evening, an insider has exclusively disclosed.

The Lisbon-born manager aims to prolong his unbeaten streak at the helm of Manchester United with arguably his biggest challenge so far: a visit to the Emirates Stadium – a game that will serve as a significant measure of resilience for the squad he has managed since being named Erik ten Hag’s replacement.

Looking to maintain momentum following their 4-0 triumph over a vulnerable Everton last weekend, the ex-Sporting CP coach will rely on his key players, such as Marcus Rashford and Amad, to secure a win against Mikel Arteta’s squad.

One individual he cannot depend on is Shaw, 29, who remains unavailable for selection amid reports suggesting that he is presently recovering from an undisclosed injury. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), user @AmorimBalll_, who had previously shared accurate team updates early, proving his connections within the organization, wrote:

EXCL: Luke Shaw is injured again & sadly not included in the travelling squad. Mazraoui is fine; he’s made the trip.

This follows Samuel Luckhurst from Manchester Evening News reporting earlier today that, while Leny Yoro had joined the squad heading to the capital, there was ‘no indication of Shaw’ among those preparing for the clash against the north Londoners.

The former Southampton talent, who earns £150,000-per-week at Old Trafford, only recently made his comeback for the team in Amorim’s debut match in charge, a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town, but now faces another spell out of action. TalkSPORT has also reported that further evaluations are underway.

Since the current season began, the London-born Shaw – regarded as one of the finest left-backs in the league – has logged just 98 minutes of play after missing the latter part of the 2023/24 season, although he was deemed fit to represent England in their Euro 2024 final loss to Spain during the summer.

‘It’s incredibly difficult to face reality right now’

Taking to social platforms after confirming his absence for Manchester United’s next match against Arsenal, the full-back shared: “Hi everyone, it’s painful having to say this as I truly believed I had overcome my recent challenges and was on a promising track ahead, but sadly I’ve encountered another minor setback. I’ve endured a lot with several highs and lows, but this is undoubtedly my toughest phase yet.

“I’m absolutely heartbroken, and it’s incredibly difficult to face reality at this point. I know there will be fans who feel annoyed, disappointed, or upset, and I completely acknowledge that. No one is more affected by this than me right now.

“But what I can assure is that I’ll do everything within my power to return stronger soon and help this club achieve its goals this year,” he concluded. “Thank you, everyone, for the unwavering support. It doesn’t go unnoticed, and I sincerely appreciate it.”
