Liverpool Crowned Premier League Champions Again as Slot’s Dream Debut Season Delivers Glory
Reds lift second Premier League trophy — and 20th English title overall
Liverpool have roared back to the summit of English football, clinching their second Premier League title — and equalling Manchester United’s record of 20 top-flight championships — under the brilliant leadership of Arne Slot.
A thunderous 5-1 thrashing of Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday sealed the deal, ensuring that Arsenal can no longer catch them with four games still to spare. Liverpool become only the seventh team to wrap up the title this early in a season.
It’s the Reds’ first Premier League triumph since their 2019/20 title win under Jürgen Klopp — a campaign played behind closed doors during the pandemic. This time, the Anfield faithful were very much part of the party.

Red tide at Anfield
Hours before kick-off, thousands of fans lined the streets, waving flags and setting off flares to welcome the team bus. Inside the ground, the noise was deafening — even after Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke gave the visitors a shock lead in the 12th minute.
Slot, in his first season after succeeding Klopp, praised the fans’ energy and his players’ mentality.
“When we saw the scenes on the way in, we knew there was no option but to win,” Slot told Sky Sports. “Even after conceding, the team believed. That’s what champions do.”
Liverpool hit back in style, with goals from Darwin Núñez, Dominik Szoboszlai, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Trent Alexander-Arnold sealing a memorable win.
Salah steals the show
— Mohamed Salah (@MoSalah) April 27, 2025
Mohamed Salah, once again, was the headline act. His goal and assist against Spurs took his season totals to 28 goals and 18 assists — the best combined return of any player across Europe’s top five leagues this year.
The Egyptian superstar, who signed a new long-term contract earlier this season, said this title meant even more than the one won five years ago.
“Doing it with the fans here, it’s unbelievable,” Salah said. “It feels twice as special.”
Salah is now just one goal involvement away from breaking the all-time Premier League single-season record (47), a mark currently shared by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer.
Title tally: Liverpool level United
Liverpool’s latest success means they have now been crowned English champions 20 times — matching Manchester United’s historic haul.
Most English top-flight titles
Club | Titles |
---|---|
Liverpool | 20 |
Manchester United | 20 |
Arsenal | 13 |
Manchester City | 10 |
Everton | 9 |
It’s a significant moment for a club whose modern identity has been built around reclaiming past glories.
Slot’s Liverpool have combined Klopp’s heavy-metal intensity with a more controlled, possession-based style — and the results have been spectacular. With the youngest average starting XI in the league, the future looks just as bright as the present.
What’s next?
Liverpool still have four games to play, and eyes are now turning toward individual milestones. Salah could break records. Slot could set new standards for points and wins.
And soon, in a moment generations of fans have dreamed about, Liverpool will lift the Premier League trophy again — this time, in a packed Anfield.
This time, the Kop will be there to sing them home.
