If Bitcoin Didn’t Exist, Artificial Intelligence Would Create It, Says Bukele Advisor

Last week, Nayib Bukele, president of El Salvador, announced on his X account the arrival of a new member to his team of advisors. Brian Roemmele, a renowned Artificial Intelligence (AI) expert and founder of Multiplex, has taken on the position of AI advisor.

Roemmele is known for his decades of experience in technology and innovation, having explored AI since the 70s and 80s. In addition, he has founded numerous technology and payments companies.

Roemmele stands out for its strong online presence and its publications on AI and cryptocurrencies. Recently, he shared on his social media that Bitcoin would be created independent of Satoshi Nakamoto.

“If Bitcoin didn’t exist, Artificial Intelligence would create it.” This sentence sums up Roemmele’s view of the interdependence of these two emerging technologies.

Bitcoin created by AI?

The new advisor sees Bitcoin and AI as “Siamese twins” that complement each other in ways we’re still beginning to understand. According to the executive, eventually, Bitcoin’s role in the evolution of AI will be recognized globally. In his own words: “Bitcoin will unleash AI for the average citizen.”

Roemmele’s arrival in the Salvadoran government marks the beginning of a new phase, with a focus on utilizing AI to promote business and education, both locally and internationally. This move is part of a broader strategy by Bukele’s government, which aims to boost the economy and improve the country’s finances.

Bukele’s plan to integrate AI and Bitcoin has recently received praise from Cathie Wood, an influential American businesswoman among crypto enthusiasts.

During a visit to El Salvador, Wood suggested that leveraging these technologies could multiply the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 10 in the next five years. American journalist Stacy Herbert, who resides in El Salvador and is a member of the Bitcoin Office, also applauded the initiative. As she said, the inclusion of AI in Bukele’s policies could make this ambitious projection a reality.

Bukele’s technological strategy gained even more traction with his recent inauguration for a second presidential term. Roemmele’s integration into Bukele’s team signals renewed confidence in the potential of Bitcoin and AI to transform El Salvador.
