Police share update on Real Madrid bus collision after Liverpool loss

Real Madrid’s team bus collided with a vehicle and a truck on Thursday, according to a police announcement, hours after the club’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in the Champions League.

Police issued a report on Thursday after Real Madrid’s team coach was involved in an accident on the M40 near Warwick a day after their Champions League loss against Liverpool at Anfield. Witnesses at the location informed local officers by posting videos on social networks after noticing the coach parked on the side of the motorway behind the truck it allegedly crashed into.

Warwickshire Police then addressed the claims, stating a collision happened between a car, a truck, and the coach. Fortunately, no major injuries resulted from the episode.

None of Madrid’s players were on their coach and had presumably flown back to the Spanish capital hours after the game. The vehicle was solely transporting equipment the club had brought for the fixture.

Warwickshire Police have subsequently issued a report. Our team responded to reports of a crash involving a car, a truck, and the coach of a prominent football club on the M40 southbound between junction 16 for Hockley Heath and junction 15 for Warwick,” the statement reads.

“Thankfully, nobody was badly injured. The players from the renowned football club were not on the bus at the time.

The club only revealed the coach last month, redesigning it to match the style of the £1.5billion redevelopment of their Bernabeu Stadium. However, the crash on the M40 is not even its first incident this year after being involved in a collision while in Germany during February for Madrid’s Champions League round of 16 opening leg against RB Leipzig.

For that fixture, the team had to fly into Erfurt instead of Leipzig due to a strike at the city’s airport. That required a 100-mile journey in their coach, during which, as the German newspaper Bild reported at the time, they collided with a white Toyota.
